**The Devil's Pact**  
*(A dark folk ballad)*  

**[Verse 1]**  
It wasn’t the Americans, no,  
Who first made Satan’s deal.  
The Spaniards held that crown, you know,  
Their Catholic fate was sealed.  

**[Verse 2]**  
One warm and quiet evening,  
The abbot met the fiend.  
By chance, he drew the holy man  
Into a wicked scheme.  

**[Verse 3]**  
«I’ll bring more souls to your dark rite,  
More followers to praise.  
But you, with all your holy might,  
Must offer up the maids.»  

**[Verse 4]**  
The priest hid his face in deep dismay,  
And sat upon the bench.  
The devil almost lost his faith —  
Would this pact even clench?  

**[Verse 5]**  
But then the priest turned round with grin,  
A smirk upon his lips:  
«I agree to this, let’s seal the deal —  
Our bargain shall not slip.»

The deal was done, the price was paid,  
In shadows, sins were laid...
